For six wonderful Christmases, my husband and I had the incredible joy of stepping into the boots of Santa and Mrs. Claus as volunteer assistants. The real Santa and Mrs. Claus were, as you can imagine, incredibly busy during the festive season, not only listening to countless Christmas wishes from children but also overseeing all the magical preparations for Christmas Eve.
As new grandparents ourselves, we felt privileged to play such a special role. It was heartwarming to see so many children eager to share their Christmas dreams with Santa. Every night, after carefully noting each child’s heartfelt wishes, I would send these precious messages on their journey to the North Pole.
Mrs. Claus, a dear friend of mine, along with the wise Christmas Angel, expertly trained us to ensure we could be the best “stand-ins” possible. Through this experience, I gained a unique insight into the intricate workings of the North Pole and the immense dedication of the Clauses and the elves in preparing for the most magical night of the year. It became clear that the sheer scale of Christmas would be impossible without the extraordinary assistance of the Christmas Angel and her countless angelic helpers.
During our time as Santa’s helpers, one question echoed more than any other from children everywhere: “How do the reindeer fly?” We knew that Santa and Mrs. Claus were frequently asked this same enchanting question.
Inspired by this universal curiosity and the wonder in children’s eyes, Mrs. Claus and I decided to embark on a special project. We wanted to create a book that would answer this timeless question for everyone who has ever looked to the sky on Christmas Eve and pondered, “How Do Reindeer Fly?”
And so, from those cherished Christmases and the endless wonder of childhood, our book was born. We sincerely hope you enjoy discovering the answer within its pages and share the magic with anyone who has ever dreamt of reindeer soaring through the night sky.
